This topic will be discussed by two experienced professionals in the Philanthropic area, Phil Savage, IV an attorney with Gresham, Savage and John Serbein, Director of Alumni Relations, University of Redlands.  Please invite guests.

Phil Savage provides personalized estate planning, estate administration and business succession services for a diversity of clients. Mr. Savage provides his clients with a pragmatic and practical approach to achieving their estate objectives, including the planning and preparation of revocable and irrevocable trusts, and the administration of trusts and estates involving complicated estate and gift tax issues. Mr. Savage's practice also includes the preparation of special needs trusts, and advice and counsel to individuals and charitable organizations on planning and implementing
charitable gifts.
Mr. Savage is a certified specialist in estate planning, trust and probate law by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization. He also serves as a commissioner on the Estate
Planning, Trust and Probate Law Advisory Commission of the California State Bar Board of Legal Specialization.

 

John Serbein, Director of Alumni Relations, University of Redlands.

 

John Serbein’s career in fundraising covers all aspects of the profession. Before his promotion in June, 2010 to Director of Alumni Relations at the University of Redlands, John served the university as a major gifts officer from 1987 to 1992 and thereafter as Director of Planned Giving.  In that latter capacity, he was responsible marketing, negotiating and stewarding deferred gifts, gifts of real estate and securities, as well as other major gifts.  He has worked on numerous campaigns and served a stint on the University’s Senior Leadership Council.  Before coming to the University of Redlands, he was a member of the Development staff at Northwestern University for five years.

 

John serves on the Board of the Estate Planning Council of San Bernardino and the Inland Empire Estate Planning Seminar committee.  His extensive  community involvement includes serving on the board of the Master Trust of California, which manages a pooled special needs trust under the aegis of the Inland Regional Center, as a member the University of Redlands Town and Gown, and as a member of the Plymouth Village Advisory Board.
