THE ROLE OF THE PROFESSIONAL FIDUCIARY IN ESTATE PLANNING
W.A. Sam Hlavaty, NCG, CLPF
Before beginning his full time practice as a Professional Fiduciary, Mr. Hlavaty spent over 25 years as the owner and operator of a litigation support firm with 35 employees. Mr. Hlavaty’s educational background includes bachelor degrees in Economics, Finance and Business Administration. After taking his first Conservatorship case in 1988, he has continued his education to earn certificates in Professional Fiduciary Management for Conservators, Professional Fiduciary Management for Trustees as well as a certificate in Gerontology.
Mr. Hlavaty has been very proactive in his profession and his community. Since 2010 he has been involved with the Professional Fiduciary Management Certificate Program at the University of California/Riverside Extension Service as an Advisory Committee member and as an instructor. Since 2009 he has been the Chairperson for the Professional Fiduciary Association of California’s Inland Empire Chapter. He is the president of the Estate Planning Council of San Bernardino County for the 2011 - 2012 year. He is the first Professional Fiduciary to hold this position in the 45 year history of the organization. Mr. Hlavaty regularly speaks to service organizations, business groups and community organizations on the Professional Fiduciary profession and basic estate planning.
Until his children went off to college, he had the honor of being both a Scoutmaster for his son’s Boy Scout troop and as a Troop Leader for his daughter’s Girl Scouts troop
